Triceratops lived about 68–66 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period.

Triceratops had a large bony frill at the back of its head, likely for defense or attracting mates.

The name Triceratops means "three-horned face," referring to its two large brow horns and smaller nose horn.

Despite its fierce appearance, Triceratops was a herbivore, feeding on low-lying plants like ferns and cycads.

It was about 30 feet long, 10 feet tall, and weighed between 6 and 12 tons, as much as a modern-day elephant.

Triceratops fossils are among the most common dinosaur fossils found in North America.

Triceratops likely lived in herds, using numbers and their horns to protect themselves from predators.
